Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday said that the Power Department must assert itself powerfully by providing better services to the consumers and for that the employees of the department must work dedicatedly and sincerely.
Chief minister Sonowal said this while ceremonially distributing appointment letters to newly recruited assistant mangers, junior managers and assistant accounts officers of APDCL, AEGCL and APGCL at a programme held at Pragjyoti ITA Centre of Machkhowa in Guwahati on Saturday.
“There are a lot of capable officials in the department and the collective effort of the strong workforce of 12,000 employees would be able to give new direction to the department by adopting modern technological advancements,” Sonowal said.
A total of 333 new recruits have got appointment in the three companies of the Power Department.
Taking part as the chief guest in the programme, chief minister Sonowal said that all want light in their lives and power is the driving force for developing human society.
Stressing upon the importance of electricity in everyday lives of the people, he urged the newly appointed employees of APDCL, APGCL and AEGCL to make their companies the catalyst for holistic development of Assam by delivering top notch services.
Informing that the State Government has set the target of producing 6500 megawatt power by 2030, the chief minister called on the power department to take the state into high growth trajectory by powering agriculture and industry, providing light to rural and urban households and improvising internal resources for continually upgrading technology and delivery systems to bring happiness to the people’s lives.
Speaking on the occasion minister of state (independent) Tapan Kumar Gogoi urged the employees of the department to work with a determined spirit to deliver public service.
Chairman of APDCL, AEGCL and APGCL Vinod Kumar Pipersenia, managing director of APDCL Rakesh Agarwalla, managing director of AEGCL Kalyani Barua were also present among others.
