A girl student of Class IX from Guwahati has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to include free self-defence training in the school curriculum across the country.

The student, identified as Minakshi Singha, has been studying at Pragjyotish Senior Secondary School, Boragaon in Guwahati.

The Assam girl sent the letter to Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday via Speed post.

In the letter to the PM, the 15-year-old girl student said at a time when cases of attack and violation against women are on the rise “I am requesting you to include free self defence training for girls in school curriculum all over the country.”

She has sought such free training for the school girls so that they can learn about self defence “which will instill confidence in them and protect them in the time of need”.

Minakshi Singha is a Wushu player.

She organises free self-defence training workshops for girls every Sunday at the Maligaon area in Guwahati.

Minakshi has been organizing self-defence training workshops under the guidance of her master Sifu Gopi Singh Lama for last one year.
