Guwahati: At least 35 people were injured in a road accident along the Assam-Meghalaya border in Mankachar on Thursday.

The accident involved a Bolero pickup truck that was travelling from Meghalaya towards Bamunpara in Dhubri.

It was reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the road and overturn.

Following the accident, locals came to the aid of the victims and helped them get out of the wreckage.

All those injured were transported to a nearby hospital in Hatisingamari for treatment.

Eight of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

Police arrived at the hospital to investigate the accident.
