GUWAHATI: Numerous incidents of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) malfunctions have been reported across several polling booths in Assam.

Initially, three instances of EVM malfunctions were reported, followed by additional occurrences in Moirabari, Mangaldoi, Diphu and Dhing in Assam.

These issues led to delays in the commencement of voting at several polling booths.

Furthermore, at Bamunpara Primary School in Mangaldoi, a malfunction in a Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machine resulted in a delay of approximately 25 minutes before the voting process could commence.

Meanwhile, tensions flared at a polling booth at Lahorighat in Assam after an EVM malfunction forced a delay in voting process.

People who gathered to vote at the polling station expressed displeasure and soon a minor clash erupted among voters.
