ULFA (I) leader Munna Baruah alias Rupak Axom has gone missing from its bases in Myanmar, the c-in-c of the outfit, Paresh Baruah, has said.

Baruah on Thursday called an Assamese news channel and said that his nephew Munna had gone missing from the deep jungle in Myanmar.

The ULFA (I) chief also rubbished media reports regarding the death of  24-year-old Munna.

“Munna Axom has been missing in the dense forest of Myanmar since October 29. He was suffering from insomnia. We have been searching him for last seven days,” he said.

ULFA (I) chief Baruah’s statement comes close on the heels of the media report that Munna was killed in the deep jungle of Myanmar.

Munna had joined the outfit based in Myanmar along with another youth in November, 2018.

His father Bimal Baruah is Paresh Baruah’s elder brother. Munna was serving as a junior engineer and was doing his apprenticeship at the Digboi Refinery before joining the outfit.
