United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) chief Paresh Baruah has been in regular touch with some top leaders of the pro-talk faction of the outfit.
ULFA (I) C-in-C Baruah, who is believed to be in China, has been in regular touch with some people in Assam to know about the situation in the State.
Baruah also speaks regularly to a few senior leaders of the pro-talk faction of the outfit, Assam Tribune reported.
According to reports, the ULFA (I) has shifted its bases closer to China border following the operations launched by Myanmar Army at Taga against Northeast insurgent groups.
The ULFA (I) cadres are now staying in makeshift camps in Myanmar along China border.
“It is apprehended that the ultras did not suffer manpower loss during the operation by the Myanmar Army though they lost their headquarters,” reports say.
The ULFA (I) headquarters in the Taga area was taken over by Myanmar Army in the first part of 2019.
One ULFA (I) militant was killed during the operation and some other rebels were later handed over to India.
