Asom Sahitya Sabha President Paramananda Rajbongshi proclaimed the Sabha’s opposing stand on implementation of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in a book release programme organized by Jyoti Bharati in Sonitpur on Sunday.
Rajbongshi said, “The Asom Sahitya Sabha will not involve in activities which will harm the interest of the indigenous people of the State. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also belongs to a tribe of the land. So he should understand the matter.”

“The Assam government should ensure the use of Assamese language in all government offices across the State”, he added.
Paramananda Rajbongshi released a book – ‘Kamrup, Kamata, Kochbehar Rajyar Itihax’ at the event, which was translated by writer Bokul Roy.
Notably, historian and litterateur Dharmanarayan Burma, the writer of the original version of the book was also present at the event.

Archeologist Dr Satish Chandra Bhattacharya, Asom Sahitya Sabha’s Central Executive members Jadav Sarma, Sanjay Tanti, Hiranya Hazarika, Bipul Kumar Nath, Nripen Das along with Asom Sahitya Sabha Kuhi’s Vice President Swapnali Borgohain were also present at the event.
Pankaj Barua and Biswajit Boro of Tezpur were designated as the member of the Sabha’s Central Executive body on the occasion.
