Popular singer Angaraag Papon Mahanta on Wednesday announced about the launch of his latest album ‘Borgeet-Ghoxa and released a promotional video on his Twitter handle.

“So here it is!! The link to the announcement of a very special project we have been working on for more than two years! Hope you like it! And do share if you like it,” Papon tweeted.

“We are happy to announce the launch news of our Börgeet- Ghôx? album coming out very soon,” the singer said.

“This is a compilation of devotional songs based on Raag and Taals and it promises to be a unique form of music created by Vaishnavite Saint Srimanta Sankardeva over 500 years ago,” the singer further wrote in his Youtube channel.

“These songs are still practised as prayer songs in Satras in Assam. It took us over two years of research and record them in a purely traditional manner and forms as a hope to archive the original form,” Papon further wrote.

He further wrote that only a few proper recordings of Borgeets are available presently.

“Since borgeets have been passed on orally generations after generations, these songs have not been documented properly. There is a fear of it being getting lost one day,” he added.

Papon has been guided by khol maestro Kusha Mahanta in this project and he has also been guided by renowned Sattriya exponent Jatin Goswami and renowned instrumentalist and author Ghanakanta Barbayan.

“We have tried our best to present the Borgeets in its raw and original form and we have not used any electronic instrument,” Papon informed.
