Panchayat polls have left job seekers in the lurch in Assam as they are unable to acquire domicile certificates to be submitted along with application form for jobs in State Health Department.

Applicants seeking to apply for the different posts under the Health Department of Assam are being made to run from pillar to post to get either Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) or Domicile certificates from the competent authority.

The aforesaid certificates are issued by the concerned Deputy Commissioner. But as the panchayat election process is under way in Assam, maximum employees including the officials of the Deputy Commissioner’s office have been engaged in election related work resulting in a hue and cry among the applicants.

These applicants who thronged the Deputy Commissioner’s office since last couple of days to get the required certificate within schedule time period which was earlier fixed on 16/11/2018 and now it has been extended up to 18/11/2018 had to return empty handed.

When contracted HP Rajkumar, SDO (Sadar) told Northeast Now that the Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri on Saturday has discussed the matter with the Director of Health, Assam and after a threadbare discussion, it has been decided that hence now, the applicants could submit their application with any valid documents like ration card, driving license , voter ID card etc as an alternate measure.

Notably, the Health Department had invited online applications from intending eligible Indian citizens for the 189 government sanctioned posts under the establishments of the Directorate of Health Service (Family Welfare), Assam and for which date was fixed on 16/11/2018 and now has been extended for more two days (up to 18/11/2018).

While in another advertisement for the 58 posts of different categories, the last date was earlier 20/11/2018 and has been extended to 24/11/2018.
