The total number of coronavirus cases in Assam on Tuesday rose to 37 with one more fresh case reported in the state in the afternoon.
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that a man from lower Assam’s Goalpara district tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Sarma, the man is a secondary infection who had come in contact with an attendee of the Tablighi Jamaat religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi.

“A person from Goalpara district, a secondary contact of Markaz attendee, has tested #COVID positive,” minister Sarma tweeted.
He further said that the number of COVID-19 patients in Assam now stands at 37.
However, active hospital cases in the state are nine.
Earlier in the day, a 16-year-old teenager from western Assam’s Bongaigaon district tested positive for the deadly virus.
So far a total of 27 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospital and one patient has died.
