One more person died of COVID19 infection in Assam on Monday taking the state’s death tally to 4.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the person died at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) before he tested positive.
On Monday, 7 more COVID19 positive cases were detected in Guwahati including the one died of the deadly virus.
With the new cases, the number of total COVID19 positive cases in Assam has risen to 115.
While three patients are from the quarantine centre at Sarusajai Stadium, the 3 others had contact with the earlier COVID19 case related to potato godown and are from the Fancy Bazaar containment zone.
“Alert ~ 7 #COVID19 + cases detected from Guwahati. One person had unfortunately died at GMCH prior to detection. 3 patients are from Sarusajai quarantine centre; & rest 3 related to Aloo Godam case are from Fancy Bazaar containment zone,” tweeted health minister Sarma.
Currently, the number of active COVID19 cases in Assam stands at 68 while two cases migrated from the state.
On Monday, Assam has recorded a total of 15 COVID19 cases and two deaths.
Earlier on the day, a 71-year-old cancer patient, namely Gopindra Ch Malakar, who returned from Mumbai, died at GMCH.
The person was suffering from neck cancer and passed away at 11.05 am in the hospital due to respiratory problem, said health minister Sarma.
