Police have arrested one more person in connection with Assam police SI recruitment scam.

Nalabari police on Monday night arrested SI recruitment examination candidate Gunjan Talukdar from Rampur under Chaygaon police station in Kamrup district.

Question paper was leaked of the Sub-Inspector recruitment exams on September 20 forcing the government to cancel the exams.

The recruitment exam for 597 posts of sub-inspectors will now be held on October 25.

Gunjan has been arrested (case no 507/20) under sections 120 (B), 406, 420 and 418 of the IPC.

Police said arrested Gunjan took coaching in a city lodge, where questions papers were supplied prior to the exams.

Police have seized his mobile phone and he is being taken to Nalbari.

At least 19 persons have been arrested so far in connection with the scam.

However, former DIG PK Dutta and BJP youth leader Diban Deka, allegedly the key suspects in the case, remain at large.

Pradip Kumar, chairman of the State Level Police Recruitment Board on Sunday resigned from his post.

Assam police has issued lookout notice against them and are also planning to announce a cash reward for providing information leading to the arrest of these two persons.

Around 60,000 candidates applied for the exam however it was cancelled minutes after it began as the question paper was already leaked in the social media.
