Vigilance Awareness Week was observed at Pipeline Division of Oil India Limited (OIL), Narangi, Guwahati, from October 29 to November 3 last. The theme topic of this year’s Vigilance Awareness Week was:  ‘Eradicate Corruption – Build a New India’.

A Press statement issued by OIL said that the week was inaugurated with ‘Integrity Pledge’ taking administered by CGM (PLS) SK Das followed by a procession. To make people more aware, street plays were conducted in public places like Narangi and Six Mile. Through these street plays messages were sent out to the people.

Various competitions like debate, essay and slogan writing, cartoon and painting were conducted amongst the students to create awareness in the minds of these future citizens of India. As a part of the awareness campaign, a seminar was organised on this year’s theme topic. The occasion was graced by Umesh Kumar, IPS, Retired Director General of Police (DGP), Government of Assam as the chief guest who delivered a speech on the theme topic. He dwelt at length on how the common people could play a key role in making India a corruption-free country. The seminar was compered by Jayanta Barua, DGM (PLP).

A workshop was also conducted on the theme topic. On the concluding day on November 3 last, a sensitisation programme for internal stakeholders was conducted by DGM (Vigilance) TC Lahkar, the release concluded.
