Mangaldai MLA Gurujyoti Das on Tuesday urged the girl students to follow the traffic rules and be careful while riding their cycles on the highway to avoid accidents.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Mangaldai Assembly Constituency, Das said this while speaking at a free bicycles distribution programme at Mangaldai in Darrang district on Tuesday.

Distribution of bicycles free of cost under the Chief Minister’s Special Scheme for girl students of Class IX and X standard from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and studying in government and provincialised schools started in Darrang district from Tuesday.

Mangaldai MLA Das ceremonially began the distribution process for a total of 6,276 targetted beneficiaries in Darrang district in presence of Narnarayan Nath, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Darrang, in charge of Education, Nagen Boro, Inspector of Schools, Darrang, Binay Sarma, Principal, Mangaldai Government Higher Secondary School and other distinguished guests on Tuesday.

In this connection, a public function was organized at Mangaldai Government HS School campus under the aegis of the Inspector of Schools, Darrang.

Speaking on the occasion, while urging the students to follow by road safety norms, Chief Guest Gurujyoti Das also appealed to the beneficiary students to avail of the opportunity mostly for their academic uplift and also make up their minds to earn a Scooty under the present State government’s scheme by securing outstanding performance in the higher secondary final examination.
