Managing director of Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) S K Barua on Monday presented the cheque of company’s first interim dividend amounting Rs 136.23 crore to Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

The interim dividend for the financial year 2019-20 was handed over at chief minister’s chamber in Assam Legislative Assembly.

This was the dividend for nine months of the financial year till December.

Notably, chief minister Sonowal received the cheque as part of the dividend against Assam Government’s equity holding of 12.35 per cent in the company.

The final dividend will be decided at the NRL’s board meeting after the current financial year ending on March 31.

Industry and commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, commissioner and secretary K K Dwivedi, senior officials of NRL were present during presentation of the dividend cheque.
