Founder President of All Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi Students Association (ACKHSA) Pradip Dutta Roy on Thursday demanded NRC state coordinator Prateek Hajela’s arrest and dismissal from service for incorporating 10 lakh foreigners’ name in the final draft of NRC.

Expressing his concerns, Pradip Dutta Roy said, “Districts like Goalpara, Dhubri, Barpeta, Nagaon, Karimganj and Hailakandi, have close to 50 percent Bangladeshis residing out there, still, more than 90 to 95 percent names of these six districts have their names enlisted in the final draft of NRC. State Coordinator of NRC Pratek Hajela is to be blamed for all this and corrupt officials under his office have registered names of many, like in the above districts.”

He added, “Prateek Hajela should be arrested immediately and also dismissed from his job for he has not only baffled Honourable Supreme Court but also cheated the Assam government in this regard. His plea to remove five documents from the list of 15 that are up for submission is hard to believe. Who has given him the authority to act as per his own will? The NRC is a big failure and he must be removed immediately and a new state coordinator from outside the state of Assam should be appointed to complete this task.”

Pradip Dutta Roy went on and said, “The failure of NRC process has given West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee of TMC, to gain grounds. Urban Development minister of West Bengal Firhad Hakim is reaching Guwahati on Thursday. He would create more chaos in order to gain politically. We Bengalis are capable of taking care of ourselves and do not need help from outside. Statements by them would only deteriorate the bonhomie that we have with the Assamese community further.”

Before winding up his press briefing, Pradip Dutta Roy said he is very much happy to hear and see the news of Hima Das winning the Gold at the Asiad for us. Wishing her for all her future sporting endeavours, Pradip Dutta Roy, said, “I myself and a socio-cultural and sporting organization ‘Rupam’ are in touch with her for we want to see her in Barak valley for us to felicitate her. She is a golden girl of our land, a golden girl of Assam.”
