Northeast is going to have the first commercial pilot training institute in the region next year.
The institute will start its operation in January next year at Lilabari airport in North Assam’s Lakhimpur district.
The Red Bird Flight Training Academy won the bid to start the flying training organizations (FTOs) at Lilabari, TOI reported.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued the order to the training on May 31 this year.
The academy is scheduled to be inaugurated by January 25, said sources in AAI.
Golda Liza Nengnong, the representative of Red Bird aviation in the East and Northeast, said that preparations are in the final stage to commence the training activities soon.
“Aspiring commercial pilots from anywhere in the world will be able to train at the Lilabari academy. Especially for the South Asian countries, it will be a major help and students, who want to become commercial pilots, will be able to pursue a career here in the northeast itself,” TOI quoted Golda as saying.
