Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is finally vacating the Koinadhara state guest house within April next.

Its over two long years after Tarun Gogoi was dethroned from the Chief Minister’s post in Assam.

However, the former Chief Minister is yet to vacate the official residence that he was occupying during his tenure as the State Chief Minister.

Notably, a write-up contributed to the Citizen Journalists’ column of Northeast Now on March 9 last raised the pertinent issue citing the example of outgoing Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar who had vacated his official residence days after he resigned from the post.

Gogoi on Tuesday told media persons that he will be vacating the Koinadhara state guest house which he was occupying since he became the Chief Minister of the State within April- precisely after the ensuing Bohag Bihu.

Gogoi will move to another government building.

Notably, Gogoi has earlier written to the State General Administration Department (GAD) to facilitate all provisions in the government quarter allotted to him after the last Assembly elections.

He told reporters in Guwahati on Tuesday that he was informed by the GAD that all necessary arrangements have been made in his new residence and that Gogoi will be shifting from Koinadhara after the ensuing Rongali Bihu.

Interestingly, the official quarter allotted to Gogoi is just besides the official quarter of BJP strongman Himanta Biswa Sarma with whom Gogoi is recently engaged in verbal dual over several issues.

When the matter was pointed out by the newspersons, Gogoi said he has no problem with that, adding he has ideological differences with Himanta and that he is no personal enemy.

“Now he is in the BJP deserting Congress, he (Himanta) may again come back to Congress fold,” quipped Gogoi.

The former Chief Minister was criticized by several quarters over his occupying the Koinadhara guest house even after losing the Chief Minister’s post.
