The minimum temperatures are likely to be above normal in all the north-eastern states during the first week of the New Year.

This was stated by the India Meteorology Department (IMD) on Monday.

The prediction has been made in the weather forecast of IMD meant for the period between December 28, 2018 and January 10, 2019.

The IMD further predicted that the minimum temperatures are likely to be above normal over some parts of western Himalayan region and the north-eastern states during the second week of the New Year.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) situated at Borjhar on the outskirts of Guwahati stated in its weather bulletin issued on Monday stated that the weather is most likely to remain dry over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 24 hours.

Shallow to moderate fog is also very likely to occur at isolated places in the morning and night hours over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during this period, the bulletin further stated.
