The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Guwahati Chapter, organized the North East Public Relations Conclave on Saturday.

The one-day event called ‘PR – The way ahead’ was held at the NEDFi House in Guwahati.

This flagship event of the PRSI, Guwahati Chapter, was organized for the third year after two successful editions.

Director General of Police Dr Kuladhar Saikia attended the event as the chief guest.

Dr Saikia, in his speech, underlined the need for robust public relations systems in all government and public sector undertakings for seamless communication with the public.

In order to make the Assam Police a friendly face, he announced the setting up of reception centres in five police stations in the city. He remarked that while digital technology has ensured 24×7 connectivity, it has also resulted in diminishing person-to-person connection.

The chairperson of PRSI, Guwahati Chapter, Madhuchanda A Choudhury (NRL) highlighted the activities undertaken by the PRSI, Guwahati Chapter, to promote PR in the region. AK Biswas, Circle Development Officer, SBI, NE Circle, VP East MS Mazumder and Chapter General Secretary Sita Baruah (IndianOil Guwahati Refinery) also addressed the session, reports The Assam Tribune.

The inaugural session was followed by three technical sessions on contemporary issues related to PR followed by the valedictory session.

The valedictory session was attended by popular Assamese actress Barasha Rani Bishaya who shared anecdotes of her life and her experiences as a celebrity which made her emerge stronger and resolute.
