GUWAHATI: The ‘stand’ system in the high school leaving certificate (HSLC) and higher secondary (HS) examination results in Assam will cease to exist from this year.
This was informed by Assam education minister Ranoj Pegu on Thursday (February 08).

Assam education minister Ranoj Pegua said that the system of ‘stand’ will be removed from this year’s HSLC and HS examinations.
Pegu said, that the ‘stand’ system does not help and put additional pressure upon students while giving exams.
It pressurises students to push for higher grades or opportunities, said Pegu.

The Assam education minister further said that the ‘stand’ system also remains a discussion among families of students.
ABOUT HSLC EXAMS IN ASSAM
High School Leaving Certification (HSLC) examination in Assam is conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA).
The Assam HSLC application process is conducted in the month of November through respective schools.
Students who have passed class 9 are eligible to appear for the Assam HSLC exam.
