A National Investigation Agency (NIA) source informed that it will approach the Gauhati High Court on Monday, seeking Akhil Gogoi’s custody again.
“There are possibilities of a hearing related to Akhil Gogoi’s custody on Monday or after Akhil’s judicial custody is over,” the NIA source further informed.
“However, there is nothing confirmed yet and everything would be clear only on Monday,” the source added.
“NIA may appeal for the further custody of the KMSS leader for another 10-14 days,” the source added.
Sources added that NIA wants Akhil Gogoi back in custody to interrogate him on the charges that are levelled against him.
The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader first arrested by Assam police on December 12 and on December 17 he was handed over to the NIA.
NIA arrested him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and took him for a 10-day NIA custody.
Gogoi was produced in a special NIA court on December 26 after the remand ended.
The NIA court sent Gogoi to 14-day judicial custody.
