With a view to improve freight transportation and provide a better customer interface, the NF Railway has taken several initiatives during the month of November 2021.

The initiatives include opening of goods traffic handling facility and introduction of debit-credit facility at more stations, the NF Railway said in a press statement.

To improve customer interface and further augment freight transportation, Ghograpar railway station has been opened for the handling of inward automobile traffic until further advice with effect from November 2, 2021.

Jalalgarh station has also been opened for the handling of steel pipe consignment (crane consignment) too until further order with effect from November 9, 2021.

New Mal Junction has been opened for the handling of both outward and inward goods traffic except coal, live stock, explosive and crane consignment until further advice with effect from November 9, 2021.

Earlier, it was opened for the handling of both outward and inward RMC (Ballast) traffic until further advice.

New Bongaigaon railway station was opened for inward iron and steel consignment (crane consignment) as an experimental basis for a period of 3 months with effect from July 22, 2021.

Now, it has been decided to extend the validity for the opening of New Bongaigaon station for the handling of inward iron and steel consignment (crane consignment) for a period up to February 28, 2022.

Similarly, the Lanka railway station has been opened for the handling of inward Iron and steel consignment (crane consignment) until further advice with effect from November 22, 2021.

Earlier, New Haflong station was opened for the handling of outward Boulder traffic only till further order.

Now, it has also been opened for the handling of inward cement traffic with effect from November 30, 2021 until further advice.

Moreover, debit-credit facility for demurrage has been introduced in another 5 terminals for a better turn round of wagons during the month of November 2021.

At present, a total of 29 location/siding/customer are availing this scheme.
