The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council is losing lakhs of rupees as revenue due as most of the traders are adopting unscrupulous means while carrying out their businesses in the district. However the council has decided to tighten the noose on the unscrupulous traders and issued certain directives regarding the renewal of trade license in the district. The Council has asked the traders to submit documents relating to myadi patta, permanent residence certificate and voter ID while renewing their trade license.
It is found that most of the traders in the district are doing business in the district without any valid trade license. A section of the traders were found doing multiple businesses with a single trade license.
This has come to light following sudden inspection of Haflong market by the CEM of the Council Debolal Garlosa. When he had asked the traders to show their licenses, most of the traders failed to furnish their trade licenses before the CEM. Inspection of trade license was also carried out in Maibang, Umrangshu, Harangajao, Langting, Hathikhali markets.
The traders then held series of meetings to find out a solution in this regard but in vein. Talking to NE NOW, the EM of Land Revenue and Taxes Kulendra Daulagupu said the Council would soon sort out the problem in its next meeting so that the traders can carry out their business in the district and the Council also earns revenues.
