New Delhi-based senior Assamese journalist Kalyan Baruah passed away on Saturday morning due to Covid-19 related complication.
Baruah, who worked with The Assam Tribune, as New Delhi bureau chief, died in a private hospital in the national capital while undergoing treatment for the Covid-19 infection.
His death came a day after his journalist wife Nilakshi Bhattacharya lost the battle against Covid-19.
Bhattacharya worked with The Times Of India in its New Delhi office.
He passed away at around 8.40 am on Saturday at Gurugram after being on ventilation support for the last few days.
The senior journalist, who originally hailed from Guwahati, had been associated with The Assam Tribune for the last 30 years. Baruah leaves behind his only daughter.
Journalist fraternity and others have expressed grief over the untimely demise of the journalist.
