The four COVID-19 patients detected in Bongaigaon district on Thursday have no contact history, informed Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“The four patients detected positive today here are without any contact history,” Sarma said while addressing the media in Bongaigaon.

“This is the first such case in Assam and I request the people of Bongaigaon to remain careful,” he further warned.

“People should not take this lightly and I request everyone’s cooperation in dealing with the situation” he further said.

“Due to this sudden change in the situation, we have decided to declare Bongaigaon district as Red Zone,” Sarma further added.

It may be mentioned here that the total number of positive cases in Bongaigaon has reached five.
