Veteran BJP leader Ram Prasad Sarmah will start a new political party involving all the old BJP leaders in Assam who are now ‘neglected’ in the saffron party.
Sarmah said this today in Guwahati adding that there is no value for the old guards of the BJP at present.
Sarmah was denied a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha polls this time. The saffron party has decided to field state labour minister Pallab Lochan Das in the constituency this time in place of Sarmah.
Sarmah also objected to the BJP’s campaign of ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ and said that he is not a Chowkidar but an employee of the people.
“There is no place for old timers of the party at present. I told many leaders when there is an intrusion in the party in 2016. The new intruders of the party has led to neglect of old guards of the party who built it brick by brick in Assam,” sarmah said.
He, however, did not mention as to when he would launch the new political party.
Sarmah is among the five sitting MPs from Assam who were dropped by the party leadership this time. The others being—Bijoya Chakravarty (Guwahati), Ramen Deka (Mangaldai), Kamakhya Prasad Tasa (Jorhat) and Rajen Gohain (Nowgong).
