GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi interacted with a team of 20 girl students, a contingent of national integration tour from Halflong in Dima Hasao district of Assam and apprised them of the diversities that have made Northeast a microcosm of India.

The meeting that took place at Raj Bhavan on Monday lasted for nearly 25 minutes where the Governor took stock of the national integration tour that the contingent had undergone from December 1 to 10 to Bengaluru.

He told them that Northeast encapsulates in miniature the characteristics of entire country which they need to showcase and promote at the national level during the integration tour.

The Governor also drew attention of the students to Assam’s rich and abundant natural resources, human resources and its diverse heritage in the fields of culture and ethnicity.

He also shared with them the Central Government’s vision of developing Northeast by connecting Northeast with the rest of the country and ASEAN countries through roadways, railways, airways and water ways.

Prof Mukhialso asked the contingent members to inculcate good values and promote unity in the region. He also requested them to be ambassadors of peace and spread the message of peace and universal brotherhood at the national level.

He urged upon them to fix their goal and remain committed until it is attained.

It may be mentioned that a national Integration tour from Halflong to Bengaluru was organized by 43 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HG 22 sector Assam Rifles/HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) from December 1 to December 10.
