Nandita Saikia murder case: Accused Rinku Sarma tries to ‘flee’, injured in firing by Assam police

Rinku Sarma, accused in the brutal Nandita Saikia murder case in Assam, has sustained bullet injury after Assam police personnel opened fire while he tried to ‘escape’ from custody.

This was informed by Assam special DGP – GP Singh late on Saturday night.

GP Singh informed that the accused tried to ‘snatch’ a weapon from policemen of Dhemaji district in Assam and escape from custody.

The police opened fire in self defense and prevent escape of the accused, the Assam special DGP added.

One Rinku Sarma, accused of killing Nandita Saikia of Moridhol College Dhemaji tried to snatch @DhemajiPolice team weapon this evening and escape custody. He was injured in police firing in self defence and to prevent escape,” Assam special DGP – GP Singh tweeted.

Special DGP – GP Singh is monitoring the investigation into the sensational Nandita Saikia murder case.

Nandita Saikia, a college girl from Lakhimpur district in Assam, recently had succumbed to the grievous injuries she sustained in a machete attack, by Rinku Sarma.

Nandita hailed from Naba Kathbari village in Dhakuakhana. She was a BA third-semester student of Maridhal College in Dhemaji.  

Nandita was allegedly killed by Rinku Sharma with a machete for rejecting his marriage proposal.

Meanwhile, the Assam government has announced that a Fast-Track Court will hear the sensational Nandita Saikia murder case.
