A girl has been arrested in Nalbari over her WhatsApp status questioning Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding the cattle protection bill.

Nalabari police on Wednesday arrested Pakiza Begum from her residence in the Komarkuchi area.

Police said the girl in her Whatsapp status allegedly wrote a message offering ‘beef’ to chief minister Sarma.

Police arrested her after the screenshot of the Whatsapp status circulated on social media.

The Assam Cattle Preservation Bill, 2021, which was introduced in the Assam Assembly recently, seeks to regulate cattle slaughter in the state.
