N F Railway general manager Sanjive Roy will reward two village boys and train drivers on Republic Day for helping in averting train accident through prompt action.
A statement issued to the media nby the chief public relations officer of N F Railway P J Sharma said that the two villagers, Bikas Das and Surya Das and drivers in the train Bibekananda Biswas and Surya Pratap Singh on January 7 helped avert train mishap of the Rajya Rani Express to Guwahati – Silghat Town.

Bibekananda Biswas, driver and Surya Pratap Singh, assistant driver halted the train after noticing two boys waving hands. Upon stopping the train they observed a rail fracture about 20/30 metres ahead of the engine, the statement read.
Both the villagers along with drivers will be awarded for showing alertness and averting a possible mishap.
On the other hand the general manager of N F Railway has also decided to award C S Gogoi, driver and Rajib Kumar, assistant driver under Tinsukia division and Duryodhan Reddy, driver and Vinod Kumar Bagdi, assistant driver under Alipurduar Division whose alertness to stop train by applying emergency brake saved the lives of elephants who were crossing railway tracks.

General Manager, NF Railway will also award the drivers of the goods train which first crossed over the newly constructed Bogibeel Bridge.
Notably, Chayan Das, driver and Diwakar Kumar, assistant driver piloted the first goods train across the newly commissioned Bogibeel Bridge on December 21 from New Tinsukia to Rangapara North.
