Myanmar-trained NDFB(S) cadre Rindao surrenders in Kokrajhar

One NDFB(S) cadre of the 42nd batch, identified as 25-year-old Rindao Brahma alias Ringhab alias Majam, surrendered at Serfanguri Police Station in Kokrajhar district on Sunday.

Son of Someswar Brahma from Kapurgaon village, Rindao was in Myanmar and came to Kokrajhar in the month of November, 2017.

“While Rindao’s father was injured, his aunt was killed in the Balajan incident in August, 2016. His family members brought him to the police station. Legal action is being initiated,” said Superintendent of Police, Kokrajhar, Rajen Singh.

Talking to media persons, Rindao alias Ringhab informed that he joined the anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S), three years back, in November, 2014.

Informing about his training, Rindao said, “I was trained in Myanmar by NDFB (S) leaders and I was sent to get engaged in organisational work in Assam and BTC region in November last year and along with me, we were six members of the outfit who came to our respective places. One of our colleagues was got killed during a joint operation recently.”

Rindao also said that there are more than 11 camps of different NE militant outfits in Myanmar including United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO), People’s Democratic Council of Karbi-Longri (PDCK), National Democratic Front of Boroland-Saoraigwra (NDFB-S). He also stated that apart from around 200 cadres of the NDFB-S faction, there are also other cadres of different outfits who have been working for their respective organisations from foreign soils.

However, Rindao stated that he did not meet the military chief of the NDFB-S, G Bidai in BTC region or Assam. He also informed, “We had to walk long fifteen days to reach Dimapur from Myanmar and came by train from Dimapur to BTC region or Assam.”

Ritujyoti Nath, Officer-in-Charge of Serfanguri Police Station said, “Rindao Brahma alias Ringhab alias Majam, aged 25 years, who is the son of Someswar Brahma Kapurgaon village, is an NDFB-S cadre of the 42nd batch and he surrendered today at the Serfanguri Police Station in Kokrajhar.”

Nath also said that frequent operations are being carried out against the NDFB-S and other militant groups in different locations in the district. “Recently one Myanmar-trained cadre and colleague of  Ringdao Brahma was neutralised at Riphu-Chirang forest in Kokrajhar during a joint operation by police and army,” added Nath.
