Unidentified miscreants shot dead a businessman at Hatigaon in Guwahati on Wednesday evening. The businessman has been identified as Hemant Chaurasia aged about 38 years.
According to reports Chaurasia runs a grocery shop at Kailash Nagar area near Hatigaon police station. While he was returning home after downing shutters of his shop, motorcycle borne miscreants attacked him near his shop.

The miscreants shot at him from point blank range and fled from the spot after committing the crime. Chaurasia was rushed to hospital but died on the way as he received bullet injury on his head.
A posse of police personnel reached the spot after the incident. Police suspected that the miscreants had used .9 mm pistol to kill Chaurasia. A massive manhunt is on to nab the culprit. Police investigation is on.
Locals expressed serious concern on the prevalent law and order in the city following the incident.
