Mizoram minister Robert Romawia Royte has alleged that Mizoram bound vehicles were vandalised and people of the state were mobbed at Lailapur on Saturday evening.
He also questioned the Assam Police’s intention in escorting the people out from the Mizoram House to the site where they were allegedly mobbed.

“Mizoram bound vehicles & innocent people escorted out from Silchar MZ house by @assampolice were mobbed and vandalised at Lailapur, Assam. Where were the policemen escorting them? Is this another deadly drama?” tweeted Robert Romawia Royte.
According to the reports, Assam ministers Ashok Singhal and Parimal Suklabaidya were in Lailapur, when a mob attacked trucks heading towards Mizoram.

Assam Ministers Ashok Singhal and Parimal Suklabaidya were in Lailapur on Saturday evening to interact with locals for lifting of the blockade against Mizoram.
Meanwhile, reacting to the Mizoram minister’s allegations, Assam minister Ashok Singhal tweeted: “The trucks movement started at 9.04 pm today and this tweet is posted at 9.05 pm. The economic blockade in Assam against Mizoram has come to an end.
The blockade, which was in place for over ten days, came to an end after an intervention of two Assam ministers – Ashok Singhal and Parimal Suklabaidhya.
Hundreds of trucks carrying essentials to Mizoram, which remained stranded along National Highway 306 in Assam have started moving.
