Khulichara-Singoa bordering Assam-Mizoram border in Cachar district witnessed Mizo aggression on Saturday where Mizo goons reportedly hurled a bomb targeting Assam police.

On learning about this gruesome incident, Cachar superintendent of police Vaibhav Chandrakant Nimbalkar rushed to the site with a huge contingent of police force.

Sources told Northeast Now that the forest department of Assam just started a road construction work in the Khulichara-Singoa border area.

Within a fraction of second ultra-jingoist Mizo goons rushed to the spot and allegedly attacked the officials of the Assam forest department.

Assam police sources said the goons were from Young Mizo Association (YMA). Nimbalkar also reportedly reached the spot with his force.

However, few hours later, additional director general of police (ADGP) Harmeet Singh too rushed to the spot with his contingent of commando force.

Sources further said YMA cadres camped at Shanti Basti area in Singoa on Saturday.

Assam police confronted YMA cadres and asked them to leave the area. But the YMA cadres refused to budge and continued to hurl abuses at the police force, sources said.

Few moments later, Cachar deputy commissioner Keerthi Jalli along with deputy superintendent of police (DSP), border, SK Hazarika also reached Khulichara to take stock of the situation.

The YMA cadres were forcefully pushed back by Assam police. In the presence of the ADGP, the forest department officials resumed their road construction work.

At this moment a bomb was hurled at the Assam delegates by the aggressive Mizo goons, Northeast Now has learnt.

However, nobody was hurt in the bomb blast.

Meanwhile, Mizo police personnel were also seen camping at Dhalakhal village that falls under the jurisdiction of Mizoram.

Though Assam police refused to divulge anything to media, a high-ranking cop from Assam police requesting anonymity said, ‘We are committed to protecting every inch of our territory.”
