Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, reacting to Congress MLA Sherman Ali Ahmedโs proposal to construct a โMiya Museumโ at Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati, said that โthere is no separate identity-and culture in Char Anchal of Assam.โ

It may be mentioned here that the Baghbar MLA had proposed the Assam government to set-up a Miya Museum at Sankardeva Kalakshetra to highlight the culture and heritage of the Miya community- who most resides in the char-chapori (sandbar) areas of the state.
