Former Rajya Sabha MP BB Dutta has condoled the death of Tarun Gogoi, describing the demise of Congress veteran as a ‘great loss for the people of Northeast.”
“It is a great loss not only to the people of Assam but for all of us in Northeast,” Dutta said in a statement on Tuesday.
The former Rajya Sabha MP mentioned that he had the good fortune of working with Gogoi closely.
“He was a man, who always thought of engaging himself in constructive action for the well being of all irrespective of caste, creed, religion, ethnicity etc.” he said.
Dutta further said that the upcoming generation will find enough materials in his life and works to draw inspiration and move ahead in life.
Gogoi, a three-time chief minister, breathed his last at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) at 5.34 pm on Monday.
He was 86 and survived by his wife Dolly, daughter Chandrima and son Gaurav Gogoi.
