Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has visited the historic Kangla Fort in Imphal to inspect the construction of a bridge, footpath and recreational park.
The new constructions are coming up on the eastern side of the Kagla Fort that used to be the royal residence of the Meitei royal family of Manipur.
The eastern bridge of the Kangla Fort, locally known as ‘Nongpok-thong’ is being constructed over the Imphal River.
“Inspected work in progress of a bridge, footpath & recreational parks at the eastern side of the #Kangla, the ancestral palace of past Meitei rulers. Also had a personal glimpse of the remnant of an ancient bridge from the Kangla which may have been constructed centuries back,” N Biren Singh tweeted.
