Main accused of Silapathar vandalism Subodh Biswas finally granted bail

The main accused in the Silapathar vandalism incident, Subodh Biswas was finally granted bail on Tuesday.

The Guahati Hogh Court on Tuesday granted bail to the president of Nikhil Bharat Bengali Udbastu Samannay Samitee (NBBUSS), a lesser known Bengali organization after around one and half years after the incident.

Earlier, his bail petitions were rejected on several occasion earlier.

The bail was granted by the court of justice Mir Alfaz.

Subodh Biswas has been charged with abetting riots and fuelling enmity between two communities.

Biswas and his aide were also charged with vandalizing the AASU office in Silapathar on March 6 last year.

He was arrested from the Bajitpur area of North-24 Pargana district of West Bengal on March 22.
