Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Ramen Deka cautioned the owners of LPG dealers of stringent action if receives written complaint from any beneficiary under centrally-sponsored Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana against any gas agency of charging any money for LPG connection.

“If I receive any written complaint from a beneficiary against a gas agency or an LPG dealer of demanding money from me for new LPG connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, I will recommend cancellation of the licence of the LPG dealer. If I can’t do that I will leave politics,” stated MP Deka.

The MP said this while addressing the public as the Chief Guest in the celebration of Gram Swaraj Divas, jointly organized at Mangaldai Natya Mandir by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Darrang and the Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL), Mangaldai Circle on Saturday.

Alleging rampant corruption in selection of beneficiaries for centrally-sponsored schemes including rural dwelling houses, rural electrification, etc. during the tenure of earlier Congress government, MP Deka claimed the situation has changed after the BJP government took over charge and urged upon the people of changing their mindset and stop offering bribe in any official work.

He also dwelt at length about the effective implementation of different centrally sponsored schemes in Darrang district including the Pradhan Mantri Ujjala Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana among others.

“Nearly seven thousand poor families have received new gas connections free of cost and more than five hundred kilometres of road under Darrang and Udalguri districts have been sanctioned under PMGSY. Sanctioning of roads under PMGSY can be done none other than the MP of the locality,” he claimed.

Later, Deka and other guests including Darrang Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kr Barman, Distrct Development Commissioner Sweety Gogoi, Darrang DRDA Project Director Pankaj Chakravorty, APDCL’s Mangaldai Circle DGM Sonit Kr Neog ceremonially distributed certificates to the selected beneficiaries of new electricity connection under Saubhagya scheme and PMAY-G.

The meeting was also attended by AGM, APDCL, Mangaldai Division Pranjal Kataki, AGM, APDCL (RE) Amarendra Sarma, President and General Secretary of BJP, Darrang District Committee Nilima Debi and Sewali Goswami Kalita respectively among others.
