“In my assessment, during the first phase, there are five Lok Sabha constituencies where there won’t be much competition,” said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

He added: “However, the real contest will unfold in Nagaon, Karimganj, and Dhubri constituencies. The remaining constituencies are not expected to be fiercely contested.”

The Assam chief minister further criticized Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi for “lacking connections” with Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency, from where the senior Congress leader us a candidate.

Sarma also noted that Gogoi hadn’t addressed Jorhat’s issues in Parliament and questioned his stance on rhino poaching incidents.
