The duo has been booked under Section 341/294/323/307/384/506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for their alleged involvement in the attempt to murder of a local journalist.

According to allegations, one accused named Mubarak Hussain managed to escape from the police outpost even after being handcuffed.

The incident has evoked strong reaction in the entire area and questions are being raised as to who facilitated the escape of an accused who was also handcuffed.

Notably, police of the Gerukabari outpost has launched a hunt for the escaped person taking along Dilshad Ahmed, who himself has been booked for attacking a local journalist.

This has raised quite a few eyebrows.

Locals have also expressed apprehension over the fact that the police officer in question has clandestine relations with several persons involved in illegal trade and anti-social activities.

The police officer did not stop at this only. He allowed Haider Ali, the other accused in the attack of journalist Azizul Haque and made him file a complaint against the journalist and his family members accusing them of burglary in his shop.

Meanwhile, the president of Kokila Press Club, Mokibul Islam has threatened to launch an agitation against the local police if the duo of Haider Ali and Dilshad Ahmed are not arrested within next 48 hours for their involvement in the attempted murder of journalist Azizul Haque who was seriously injured in the attack.
