A senior official Assam forest department was allegedly manhandled by some people from Arunachal Pradesh in the Lakhimpur district on the interstate border.
As per report, Lakhimpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) A K Dev Chaudhury was allegedly roughed up by people from Arunachal Pradesh at Ranga Reserve in Lakhimpur on the inter-state boundary.

Sources said the incident took place when DFO Chaudhury went to the area to inspect a proposed power line work coming from Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh to Lakhimpur through Ranga Reserve forest.
The DFO saw an illegal construction of a road by the people from Arunachal inside the Ranga Reserve and he ordered to halt the work, said a police official.
While returning from inspecting the power line site he was manhandled by an unruly crowd from the Arunachal Pradesh side.

His mobile phone and identity card were snatched away by the crowd and his security person was also attacked.
Later a police team from North Lakhimpur led by DSP Border and circle officer from Nowboicha arrived at the spot and rescued the forest team.
A case has been lodged with Laluk Police Station by the officials of the Lakhimpur Forest department.
