GUWAHATI: The Kerala police have apprehended an individual from Tamil Nadu in connection with the alleged murder of a young man from Assam.
The youth from Assam was allegedly killed while cleaning a concrete mixer near Vakathanam.
Pandi Durai (29) was arrested by the Kerala police on Thursday (May 02).
The remains of the Assam youth, identified as Laiman Kisk (19), were recovered from a waste pit of the concrete facility on April 28.
According to the police, Durai, functioning as the plant operator, activated the mixer while Kisk was engaged in cleaning it on April 26.
Allegedly, when Kisk fell into the mixer, Durai employed an excavator to dispose of the body in the waste pit.
Subsequently, Durai purportedly utilized slurry waste from the plant to cover Kisk’s remains in the pit, although the body was located two days later.
Authorities revealed that Durai, who also worked as an electrical operator at the plant, had tampered with the establishment’s CCTV system.
The accused was presented before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
