Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi was once again sent to 14-day judicial custody by a special NIA court in Guwahati on Friday.
Gogoi was arrested on December 12 from Jorhat and he was booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) the following day.

The NIA court on January 10 rejected an NIA plea seeking Gogoi’s custody and subsequently he was sent to 14-day-judicial custody.
Reportedly, Gogoi was produced before special NIA court in Chandmari, which sent him to 14-day judicial custody again.
On reaching the court premises, the peasant leader said now it is time for the people of Assam to start a massive protest against CAA.

“Time has come for the people of Assam to stand united against CAA. If we don’t protest against CAA unitedly, then the state will be destroyed,” he said.
“The agitation is now being stretched and it seems it is getting directionless,” he said.
“Time for symbolic protests is over. Time has come to stage such protests, which force the government to withdraw CAA,” Gogoi said.
