Hours after announcement of the HSLC examination results, a 16-year-old girl student from Upper Assam’s Jorhat district on Saturday allegedly committed suicide for not performing up to her expectations in the examinations.
Kongkita Bora, who had passed HSLC examinations in first division with 63 per cent marks, was found hanging in a room in her residence at Jaya Nagar, West Bengal Pukhuri in Jorhat on Saturday afternoon.
Family sources said Kongkita felt disappointed after she failed to secure marks upto her expectations.
Kongkita was a student of Balya Bhawan High School.
Police said that she was found hanging from a window grill and the door of the room was locked from inside.
Police said that from preliminary investigation it appeared to be a case of suicide.
Her father Dhiren Bora is a teacher in Dhenususa High School.
