The Jorhat District Students’ Union in association with Mariani and Titabor units of AASU on Saturday for formed a human chain at Mariani as a protest against the framework agreement signed between the Centre and the NSCN (I-M) as a team of Assam Government rushed to the Assam-Nagaland border in Mariani.
Hundreds of AASU members in association with locals formed the human chain demanding disclosure of the clauses of the Naga Framework agreement.

The Centre and the NSCN (I-M) are negotiating a solution to the Naga problem since 1997. The two parties signed a framework agreement on August 3, 2015.
As per media reports on the agreement but the Centre has not come out with a clear answer to remove the misgivings surrounding it.
Organisations like the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti and political parties like the Congress and AIUDF had earlier demanded a special session on the issue.

Meanwhile, a team of Assam government led by Agriculture Minister Atul Bora today rushed to Assam-Nagaland border in Golaghat district to take stock of the situation along the border.
The AASU in association with nine other students’ bodies of the State have decided to launch a series of protests across the State over the issue.
