The Gauhati High Court has registered a suo moto PIL in regards to vaccination of inmates lodged in different jails of Assam.

The Gauhati High Court registered the suo moto PIL based on an application Pratidhwani, a non-profit organization.

Reportedly, volunteers of Pratidhwani after visiting both district and central jails in Assam, allegedly found that, except the inmates of Silchar jail, inmates of no other jail have been vaccinated.

The Gauhati High Court has directed the Assam Government to file an affidavit within three weeks, updating on the process of vaccination of jail inmates.
