Assam’s young filmmaker Jaicheng Zxai Dohutia’s Assamese film Jolsobi has been selected for the ‘New Directors Competition’ section at 45th São Paulo International Film Festival, known as Mostra in Brazil.

The world premiere of the film will be held on October 26, 2021 at Espaco Itau de Cinema at 1:30 pm (GMT).

The 14-day-long festival will be held from October 21-November 3, 2021 at São Paulo.

The festival has four main sections – International Perspective, New Directors Competition, Show Brazil and Special Presentation.

Last year, Eeeb Allay Ooo! by India’s Prateek Vats was the only film selected for the New Directors Competition section.

The film ‘Jolsobi’ has been made by Mayamara Art & Culture in association with Mogador Film (Berlin), Fundamental Studios (Frankfurt) and Arman Productions (India).

Produced by Jaicheng Zxai Dohutia and Bhupali Moran, the film is co-produced by Arman Ahmed, Christoph Thoke, Andreas Lucas, Srikumar Dohutia and Manash Protim Dutta.

Aspiring Assamese actress Darathie Bharadwaj plays the lead role in the film.

The other cast members are Numal Chandra Gogoi, Durlabha Moran, Dulukanta Moran, Akhil Bihiya Gogoi, Biponjit Gogoi, Karabi Dowarah, Bishal Anurag, Geetashree Dohutia and Rashmi Rekha Dohutia.

While Chida Bora and Jaicheng Zxai Dohutia are in the cinematography of the film, Oliver Achatz & Debajit Gayan are in sound design, the producers of the film informed.

The art directors are Punyajit Moran, Prakashdeep Dohutia and Biponjit Gogoi.

Jadab Mahanata, Mrinal Borgohain, Kukil Protim and Rantu Mahata have written the lyrics of the songs sung by Gitaleena Dutta.

In music, there are Andreas Lucas and Sourav Mahanta (song).

Biswa Kalita is in make-up and Dhirujyoti Buragohain is in graphics.

While the world premiere of the film will be held at Espaco Itau de Cinema, there will be two more shows in different theatres including an online show, the producers further informed.
