Several premises of Chinese mobile companies across India were raided by the Income Tax (IT) Department on Wednesday over allegations of several “violations”.
Premises linked to Chinese mobile companies in India like Oppo, Xiaomi, among others were raided.
The searches were conducted at several manufacturing units, godowns, and corporate offices.
The raids were conducted mostly due to allegations of these companies being involved in tax evasions.
Raids were conducted across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Greater Noida, Kolkata, Guwahati, Indore, and some other places.

Apart from these, several other Chinese firms that are involved in mobile phones, loan applications, and transport business were also raided by central investigative agencies recently.
Among the companies, Oppo has told the media that they will be cooperating with the investigating authorities.
All these companies were allegedly violating rules and norms to evade taxes and were on the radar of several probe agencies, including the IT department.
